Getting to Know: Gretchen Brown

Written by on May 6, 2016

We have some fantastic volunteers that donate their time, both on and off air, to help make Golden String Radio what it is today. Let’s get to know one of our longest serving volunteers: Gretchen Brown. Check her out every Monday night on Lost In Rotation.

Q. What did you grow up listening to in your youth?
A. Stuff my mom listened to – The Doors, The Beatles, Neil Young. Still love them all.

Q. What was the first record/album you bought with your own money?
A. My first picks were from the Columbia House record club at about 9 or 10 years old and one of them was Klaatu. I picked it because of the cover and I didn’t like it at all.

Q. What was your most memorable live music experience?
A. Seeing Adam & the Ants at the old Cleveland Agora. I was 13 and my parents had to take me. It was beautiful.

Q. What is your favorite piece of band/artist merchandise that you own? From where did you get it?
A. My 8-Balls pin from a show at Cedars many many moons ago.

Q. Who are you listening to a lot these days?
A. A lot of new stuff – The Tacocats, The Gotobeds, Har Mar Superstars…

Q. Who is your favorite client DJ at Golden String Radio?
A. That’s a really hard question because they’re all awesome, but I’ve gotten the most support from Eric Trebus.

Q. What’s your favorite candy or snack to get at Touch The Moon Candy Saloon?
A. I like to try something new every time. For some reason I’m drawn to candy that comes inside little tins.
